5 November 2025, 20:27 Switzerland: Swiss 10-Year Bond Yield at 2022-Lows.
The Swiss 10-year government bond yield hovered around 0.12%, near its lowest level since January 2022, amid increased demand for safe-haven assets, driven by a general risk-off sentiment. Worries over the extended US government shutdown, mixed signals from Fed officials, persistent geopolitical uncertainty and stretched AI valuations weighed on investor confidence. Risk aversion intensified following warnings from major Wall Street bank CEOs about possible market corrections. On the domestic front, softer-than-expected Swiss inflation data raised pressure on the Swiss National Bank (SNB) to lower interest rates below the current 0% level. However, SNB officials Tschudin and Schlegel signaled patience, saying policy rates are appropriate for now. The central bank is widely expected to maintain its policy stance at the next meeting on December 11.
