New car sales in the UK inched higher by 0.5% from the previous year to 144,948 in October of 2025, holding the 13.7% jump from the previous. Sales soared by 23.6% annually to 36,830 for batter electric vehicles, translating to a over 25% of total market share, while surging by 27.2% to 17,601 for plug-in hybrid vehicles. In the meantime, hybrid electric vehicles rose a softer 2.2% to 19,250 in the period. Conversely, petrol vehicle registrations sank by 11.6% to 64,360.
