5 November 2025, 12:30  France: Composite PMI Revised, Still Contraction Persists.

The HCOB France Composite PMI for October 2025 was revised higher to 47.7, compared to the flash estimate of 46.8 but coming below September's reading of 48.1. This marked the 14th consecutive month of contraction in private sector activity and the sharpest since February, reflecting continued declines across both the services (PMI at 48 vs 48.5 in September) and manufacturing (PMI at 48.8 vs 48.2) sectors. The latest data showed continued weakness in domestic demand, offset slightly by a milder drop in exports. Firms added staff for a third month, reducing backlogs, though manufacturers reported renewed pressure on outstanding orders. Confidence weakened, and while input cost inflation fell to a near five-year low, output prices rose as service providers strengthened pricing power.
