4 November 2025, 21:48 United Kingdom: FTSE 100 Little Changed on Tuesday.
The FTSE 100 was little changed on Tuesday, stabilizing after two days of declines, supported by gains in healthcare and consumer goods stocks. AstraZeneca climbed 1.2% and GlaxoSmithKline rose 1.9%, while consumer staples Unilever and British American Tobacco advanced around 0.7% and over 1%, respectively. BP also gained more than 1% after reporting stronger-than-expected Q3 profits of $2.2 billion, announcing a $750 million share buyback, and confirming it is on track to exceed $4 billion in divestment proceeds this year following the $1.5 billion sale of US shale assets. Meanwhile, Chancellor Rachel Reeves’s speech ahead of the late-November budget offered few specifics but hinted at possible tax hikes. She cited years of economic mismanagement and global pressures while reiterating her “iron-clad” fiscal rules and commitment to reducing inflation and maintaining fiscal discipline, sending the pound toward $1.30.
