The unemployment rate in Austria rose to 7.2% in October 2025 from 6.9% in the same month of the previous year. The number of unemployed persons climbed 17.2 thousand year-on-year to a six-month high of 310.5 thousand. Compared to the previous period, the number of unemployed persons increased by 11.3 thousand. By gender, the jobless rate for women stood at 7.2%, 0.4 percentage points higher than a year earlier, while the rate for men rose by 0.3 percentage points to 7.3%. Meanwhile, around 388.1 thousand people were registered as unemployed or in training in October.
