3 November 2025, 13:39 Cyprus: Retail Sales Growth at 4-Month High.
Retail sales in Cyprus increased by 9% year-on-year in September 2025, accelerating from an 8.4% rise in the previous month. This marked the strongest growth in retail activity since May, mainly driven by higher sales of food beverages, and tobacco in non-specialized stores (8.7% vs 7.7% in August) and special stores (19.2% vs 16.5%), automotive fuel (6.4% vs -1%), clothing and footwear (15.8% vs 18.1%), and other household equipment (10.4% vs 7.4%). On the other hand, sales declined for cultural and recreation goods (-1.2% vs 0.4%), while information and communication (4.7% vs 9.8%) and flowers, plants, watches, jewellery, optical goods and second-hand goods (7.3% vs 11.6%). On a year-to-date basis, retail trade grew by 7.6%.
