Consumer prices in Switzerland rose by 0.1% year-on-year in October 2025, missing market expectations of a 0.3% increase and slowing from a 0.2% gain in the previous month. On the other hand, inflation increased further for alcoholic beverages and tobacco (1.2% vs 0.8%), while it remained steady for education (at 2.6%) and restaurants and hotels (at 1.3%). Core inflation, which excludes volatile items such as unprocessed food and energy, eased to 0.5% from 0.7%. On a monthly basis, consumer prices fell by 0.3%, deeper from market forecasts of a 0.1% decline and September’s 0.2% decrease.
