3 November 2025, 05:48  Australia: Building Permits Rebound More than Expected.

The seasonally adjusted number of total dwellings approved in Australia increased by 12% month-on-month to 17,019 units in September 2025, rebounding from a downwardly revised 3.6% drop in August and beating market expectations of a 5.5% growth, preliminary data showed. Approvals for private sector dwellings excluding houses jumped 26.0%, after a 3.8% decrease in the prior month. At the same time, private sector house approvals rose by 4%, following a 1% fall. By state, approvals increased in Victoria (41.3%), New South Wales (30.4%), and Tasmania (11.7%), while dropped in Queensland (-11.3%), Western Australia (-5.1%) and South Australia (-0.9%). On a yearly basis, total dwellings approved were up 15%.
