28 November 2025, 15:44 USA: Technical Outage Disrupts US Futures Trading.
Futures for the three major US stock indexes traded near the flatline on Friday before a technical outage at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange disrupted trading. The issue was caused by cooling system problems at a data center in the Chicago area. Traders are returning from the Thanksgiving holiday to a shortened session, and volumes are typically well below average, conditions that the outage could further exacerbate, potentially adding volatility. No major economic releases are scheduled for today. For November as a whole, the S&P 500 is down 0.4%, on track for its first monthly decline since April. The Dow Jones has slipped 0.3%, while the Nasdaq has dropped more than 2%, breaking a seven-month winning streak amid early-month concerns over stretched AI valuations.
