18 November 2025, 14:23 India: Sensex Ends on Negative Note.
India's BSE Sensex closed about 0.3% down at 84,673 on Tuesday, as investors booked profits after a six-day rally, mirroring a global weak sentiment. The US-exposed IT sector was the hardest hit, led by Tech Mahindra (-2.2%) and Infosys (-1.3%), amid uncertainty over a potential Fed rate cut in December and ongoing AI stock valuation worries. At the same time, caution prevailed ahead of the release of Nvidia’s quarterly results and delayed US economic data. Other notable decliners included Eternal, Bajaj Finserv, Bajaj Finance, Adani Ports and L&T, with losses between 1% and 1.5%. Conversely, telecom major Bharti Airtel emerged as the best performer, with a 1.8% rise. Axis Bank (+1.3%), Asian Paints (+0.6%) and Power Grid (+0.4%) followed suit.
