Romania's current account deficit widened to EUR 3,127 million in September 2025, from EUR 2,515 million in the same month of the previous year. This marked the largest current account shortfall since October 2024, as the primary income deficit rose to EUR 1,425 million from EUR 887 million, and the secondary income account shifted to a deficit of EUR 19 million from a surplus of EUR 157 million. Meanwhile, the goods account deficit narrowed to EUR 1,682 million from EUR 1,784 million, and the services account surplus increased to EUR 967 million from EUR 951 million. Considering the first nine months of the year, the country’s current account deficit reached EUR 22,275 million, compared to EUR 20,515 million in the corresponding period a year earlier.
