13 November 2025, 09:17  New Zealand: Stocks Retreat.

New Zealand's benchmark S&P/NZX 50 index fell 0.5% to close at 13,598 on Thursday, pulling back from a record high reached earlier in the session amid weakness across almost all sectors. Infrastructure investor Infratil led the losses, sliding 5.5% after lowering its full-year earnings guidance following the sale of several businesses. Other major contributors to the decline included Auckland Intl Airport (-1.6%), Meridian Energy (-1.0%), Fletcher Building (-1.1%), Ryman (-2.0%), Air New Zealand (-1.6%), and Heartland Group (-1.8%). These losses, however, were partially cushioned by solid gains from Mainfreight (+8.7%), Contact Energy (+1.0%), Mercury NZ (+1.2%), and Port of Tauranga (+2.0%).
