13 November 2025, 00:27 Canada: TSX Sets Record High on Wednesday.
The S&P/TSX Composite Index rose 1.4% to close at a fresh record of 30,828 on Wednesday as growing hopes that the US government shutdown could soon end encouraged risk taking and widened market participation. The House may vote shortly to reopen the government, which would restore delayed economic releases that guide the Fed and remove a key political overhang. Major miners led the advance with Agnico Eagle, Barrick and Wheaton Precious Metals adding between 3.2 and 4.3% after gold prices surged. Tech and financials also outperformed, with Constellation Software up 3% and Brookfield helping lift the financials with 1.5% gains, while insurers Manulife and Sun Life rose 2.6% and 2% respectively. In corporate news Orla Mining jumped 13.6% after reporting stronger quarterly profit and Stingray Group topped revenue expectations.
