10 November 2025, 11:25 Romania: Posts Smallest Trade Deficit in 3 Months.
Romania’s trade deficit narrowed to EUR 2.5 billion in September 2025, from EUR 2.6 billion in the same month last year, marking the smallest monthly deficit since June. Exports rose 9.2% year-on-year to EUR 8.9 billion, driven mainly by higher sales to EU countries (up 3.1%) and non-EU countries (up 7.0%). Meanwhile, imports increased 6.2% year-on-year to EUR 11.4 billion, supported by higher purchases from EU countries (up 3.7%) and non-EU countries (up 5.5%). For the first nine months of the year, the trade deficit widened to EUR 24.5 billion, compared with EUR 23.5 billion in the same period of 2024.
