Estonia’s trade deficit widened to EUR 292 million in September 2025 from EUR 246 million in the same month a year earlier, as exports rose less than imports. Year-on-year, exports grew 4% to EUR 1,583 million, supported by higher shipments to EU countries (up 11%) despite a decline in non-EU markets (down 12%). Among commodities, notable increases were recorded in wood and articles of wood (7%), base metals and articles of base metal (3%), and agricultural products and miscellaneous manufactured articles (9%). Meanwhile, imports climbed 8% to EUR 1,875 million, driven by higher purchases from both non-EU (up 1%) and EU countries (up 7%). Increased arrivals were seen mainly in wood and articles of wood (25%) and miscellaneous manufactured articles (19%). Over the first nine months of the year, the country posted a EUR 2,809 million trade shortfall, expanding from EUR 2,414 million in the same period a year earlier.
