The seasonally adjusted number of total dwellings approved in Australia climbed 12% month-on-month to 17,019 units in September 2025, matching preliminary estimates and rebounding from a 3.6% fall in August. Approvals for private-sector dwellings excluding houses surged 26.0% after a 3.8% decline in the previous month, while private-sector house approvals rose 4%, following a 1% drop. By state, approvals increased in Victoria (41.3%), New South Wales (30.4%), and Tasmania (11.7%), but fell in Queensland (-11.3%), Western Australia (-5.1%), and South Australia (-0.9%). On a yearly basis, total dwelling approvals advanced 15.3%, accelerating from a 4.8% rise in the previous month.
