9 October 2025, 13:51 Taiwan: September Exports Jump but Miss Expectations.
Exports from Taiwan surged 33.8% year-on-year to USD 54.25 billion in September 2025, easing slightly from a 34.1% rise in the previous month and falling short of market expectations for a 35.5% gain. Growth was driven by strong demand for information, communication, and audio-video products (+86.9%), electronic parts (+25.6%), machinery (+5.0%), and chemicals (+1.8%), while shipments of base metals and articles of base metal (-1.7%) declined. By destination, exports to major markets posted robust increases, with shipments rising to the US (+51.6%), ASEAN (+34.0%), Europe (+27.3%), Japan (+23.3%), Korea (+23.3%), and China & Hong Kong (+12.8%). From January to September, total exports reached USD 452.68 billion, up 29.7% from a year earlier, including a 54.9% surge in shipments to the US.
