The German government on Wednesday raised its growth forecast for 2025 to 0.2%, up from a zero-growth projection in April, Reuters reported. The country also revised its GDP growth forecast for 2026 upward to 1.3% from 1.0%, with 1.4% growth expected in 2027. Exports are projected to decline by 0.1% in 2025, before growing by 1.2% in 2026 and 1.6% in 2027. In August, the number of unemployed people in Germany surpassed 3 million for the first time in a decade, reflecting ongoing struggles in the weak economy. According to the new government projections, the unemployment rate will edge down from 6.3% this year to 6.2% in 2026, and further ease to 6.0% in 2027.
