8 October 2025, 22:53 Italy: FTSE MIB Rises as Banks and Prysmian Lead Gains.
The FTSE MIB climbed 1% to close at 43,484 on Wednesday, supported by bank gains amid lower bond yields and upbeat corporate news. Prysmian led the index after UBS raised its target price to €105 from €85 and reiterated a Buy rating, citing benefits from US tariffs and strong exposure to AI and data center markets. Leonardo added 2.4% after signing a new €1.8 billion ESG-linked revolving credit facility with reduced margins and extended duration to 2030. Banks advanced, with Banco BPM up 2.3% and UniCredit 2%. Meanwhile, autos lagged, with Stellantis down 1.2% on new EU steel tariffs and Ferrari slipping 0.6%. Telecom Italia dropped 2.8% after Italy moved to set a unified 30% takeover bid threshold, potentially allowing top investor Poste Italiane (+1.1%) to raise its stake without triggering a buyout offer.
