7 October 2025, 14:41 Iceland: Trade Gap Largest in 4 Months.
Iceland posted a trade deficit of ISK 45.5 billion in September 2025, widening from ISK 22.7 billion in the same month of the previous year. This marked the largest trade deficit since May, as exports dropped while imports rose. Year-on-year, exports declined by 12% to ISK 77.1 billion, mainly due to lower shipments of agricultural (-36%), manufacturing (-22%), farmed fish (-19%), and other products (-53%). Meanwhile, imports advanced by 11% to ISK 122.6 billion, with increased purchases of capital goods (53%), transport equipment (26%), and food and beverages (25%).
