7 October 2025, 12:15 France: Current Account Swings to Surplus.
France posted a current account surplus of EUR 1.5 billion in August 2025, shifting from a downwardly revised deficit of EUR 1.9 billion in the previous month. This marked the first current account surplus since March, as the goods account deficit narrowed to EUR 4.2 billion from EUR 5.7 billion. Additionally, the services account surplus jumped to EUR 6 billion in August from EUR 4.1 billion in July. Meanwhile, the primary income surplus narrowed slightly to EUR 1.2 billion from EUR 1.4 billion, while the secondary income shortfall widened to EUR 4.8 billion from EUR 4.6 billion.
