6 October 2025, 19:35 Brazil: Ibovespa Falls on Corporate News.
The Ibovespa eased to below 144,000 on Monday as a batch of negative corporate news offset gains for commodity giants. GPA droped 2.3% ahead of its board election. Vibra lost 1.5% after announcing major changes to its Executive Board. Also, Ambipar slumped nearly 18% amid deepening financial concerns, including an injunction against creditors and alleged irregularities in a Receivables Investment Fund holding part of its cash. The company warned of a potential R$10 billion shortfall. In turn, Petrobras inched higher as oil prices climbed on smaller-than-expected OPEC+ output increases, while Vale (+1%) and CSN (+3%) as markets continued to assess whether China's shun of BHP could benefit the Brazilian ferrous metals sector. Embraer added 1.7% after selling four aircraft to the Swedish Air Force. Meanwhile, the Focus Survey by the BCB showed that investors tuned their expectations on inflation downwards.
