Retail sales in Argentina increased by 25.1% in August 2025 compared to the same period last year at current prices, up from July’s 19.6% increase. Most retail sectors showed accelerated growth, such as clothing, footwear and leather goods (14.8% vs. 12.6% in July), electronics and IT (12.9% vs. 5.1%), bookstores and stationery stores (25.3% vs. 18.6%), leisure and recreation (64.7% vs. 28.2%), and food courts and restaurants (51.1% vs. 39.0%), while pharmacies and perfumeries (27.8% vs. 30.5%), and toys (37.9% vs. 45.4%) slowed. When adjusted to constant prices, retail sales fell 1.9% year-on-year, an improvement from the 9.5% decline in July.
