21 October 2025, 22:36  Italy: FTSE MIB Rises as Banks and Autos Rally.

The FTSE MIB rose 0.6% to close at 42,648 on Tuesday, lifted by strong gains in the banking sector. BPER jumped 4.5% and Banca Popolare di Sondrio surged 5.1% after BPER announced derivative contracts to purchase a synthetic exposure equivalent to 9.99% of its share capital. The move follows BPER’s successful voluntary offer in July to acquire and exchange shares of BPSO, raising its stake to 58.49% and securing full control. The auto sector also advanced, with Stellantis up 4.7% and Ferrari gaining 1.1%. Stellantis reported an 11.5% rise in EU-30 passenger car sales in September 2025, capturing a 15.4% market share in Q3. Eni added 0.4% amid higher oil prices. On the downside, Recordati lost 1.1%, Banco BPM 0.8%, and Telecom Italia 0.7%.
