21 October 2025, 21:58 France: CAC 40 Climbs To Record High.
The CAC 40 rose 0.6% to close at a record 8,259 on Tuesday, as strong corporate earnings outweighed concerns over France’s credit outlook and political tensions. The rally followed Prime Minister Lecornu’s survival of two no-confidence votes, which cleared the way for budget talks, while a robust earnings season lifted blue chips. EssilorLuxottica (0.9%) and LVMH (0.8%) extended gains after upbeat results drove the market last week, and Kering advanced after agreeing to sell its beauty unit to L’Oreal. Edenred jumped 19.6% after reporting 7.3% comparable revenue growth, accelerating from 6.4% in the first half, while Eurofins Scientific lost 2.2% on weaker-than-expected quarterly sales. Still, political instability and S&P’s unscheduled downgrade of France’s sovereign rating could keep risk premia elevated, limiting further upside for domestic-exposed stocks.
