20 October 2025, 22:53  Italy: FTSE MIB Advances on Global Optimism.

The FTSE MIB rose 1.5% to close at 42,393 on Monday, lifted by global equity strength and upbeat corporate developments. STMicroelectronics (+4.6%) advanced after repurchasing 292,850 common shares between October 13 and 17, bringing its treasury holdings to 19.94 million shares, or 2.2% of total capital. Leonardo (+4.3%) gained after Switzerland announced the purchase of a mobile short-range radar system from the company to monitor its airspace. The financial sector also advanced (UniCredit +2.8%, Intesa Sanpaolo +2.1%) after Barclays said Italian lenders may see mild Q3 pressure on net interest income but remain fundamentally sound. The bank reaffirmed an Overweight rating on BPER Banca (+3.3%) with a €12.5 price target, citing synergies from its BP Sondrio (+3.9%) acquisition. On the downside, Lottomatica fell 2.8%, likely on profit-taking and sector rotation amid shifting regulations. Ferrari dipped 0.1%, extending a 14% monthly and 16.8% year-to-date decline.
