US energy added a below-normal 53 billion cubic feet of natural gas into storage in the week ending September 26, below market expectations of 67 bcf. That compares with a boost of 54 bcf during the same week a year ago and a five-year (2020-2024) average build of 85 bcf for this time of year. The increase lifted the total amount of natural gas storage in the lower 48 states to 3.561 trillion cubic feet, 0.6% above levels from the corresponding period of the previous year, and 5% above the current five-year average.
