2 October 2025, 20:34  Cyprus: Retail Sales Growth Eases in August.

Retail sales in Cyprus increased 8.4% year-on-year in August 2025, slowing from an 8.7% rise in the previous month. The slowdown was primarily driven by moderated sales in food, beverages, and tobacco in specialized stores (16.5% vs 19.8% in July), food, beverages, and tobacco in non-specialized stores (7.7% vs 8.4%), information and communication equipment (9.8% vs 12.9%), and pharmaceuticals, orthopedic goods, and cosmetics (3.9% vs 5.1%). Additionally, sales declined for automotive fuel (-1% vs 3.3%). Meanwhile, sales accelerated for clothing and footwear (18.1% vs 15.7%), flowers, plants, watches, jewelry, optical goods, and second-hand goods (11.6% vs 7.8%), retail sales not in stores (10.7% vs 4.9%), and other household equipment (7.4% vs 6.6%). They also rebounded for cultural and recreation goods (0.4% vs -1%). On a year-to-date basis, retail sales advanced by 7.4%.
