2 October 2025, 10:52 Switzerland: Consumer Inflation Steady in September.
Consumer prices in Switzerland rose by 0.2% year-on-year in September 2025, remaining steady from the previous two months and slightly below market expectations of 0.3%. Still, this marked the fourth consecutive month of inflation, as prices ticked up for housing and utilities (0.7% vs 0.6% in August). Additionally, prices accelerated in the recreation and culture category (1.9% vs 0.5%), while the pace of deflation moderated in transport (-1.5% vs -2.4%) and household goods and ongoing household management (-0.5% vs -1.1%). Conversely, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages declined at a faster rate (-0.8% vs -0.5%) and slipped for clothing and footwear (-0.1% vs 2.3%) as well as other goods and services (-0.4% vs 0.1%). Moreover, inflation eased in alcoholic beverages and tobacco (0.8% vs 0.9%) and restaurants and hotels (1.3% vs 1.8%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices fell by 0.2% in September, deepening from a 0.1% decline in August but aligning with market expectations.
