17 October 2025, 13:06  Austria: Inflation Rate Confirmed at 4%

The annual inflation rate in Austria eased slightly to 4% in September 2025 from 4.1% in the previous month, matching preliminary estimates. The slowdown was mainly driven by lower prices in food and non-alcoholic beverages (3.9% vs 5.2% in August), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (3.2% vs 3.8%), housing and utilities (6% vs 6.1%), recreation and culture (3.2% vs 4.1%), clothing and footwear (1.4% vs 4.5%), and miscellaneous goods and services (4.3% vs 4.7%). At the same time, costs declined for furnishings, household equipment, and maintenance (-0.6% vs 0.5%). Meanwhile, inflation increased for transportation (2.5% vs 1.2%), restaurants and hotels (6.2% vs 6.1%), education (6.4% vs 4.8%), and health (5.3% vs 4.6%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices fell by 0.2% in September, marking the lowest reading since January 2021, reversing a 0.2% gain in the preceding period.
