16 October 2025, 16:12 Brazil: Economic Activity Index Rebounds in August.
Brazil’s IBC-Br economic activity index, a key GDP proxy, rose 0.4% from the previous month in August 2025, rebounding after a 0.5% decline in July and marking its first increase since April. Growth was driven by expansions in industry (0.8%), services (0.2%), and taxes (0.7%), while the agriculture and livestock sector contracted 1.9%. Excluding agriculture, the IBC-Br was also up 0.4%. Compared to a year earlier, economic activity rose 3.2%.
