16 October 2025, 04:08  Australia: Employment Rises Less than Expected.

Employment in Australia rose by 14,900 to a new high of 14.64 million in September 2025, swinging from a revised 11,800 decline in the previous month while falling short of market estimates of a 17,000 increase. Full-time employment grew 8,700 to 10.08 million, reversing a revised 48,600 drop in August. Meanwhile, part-time employment gained 6,300, much weaker than the upwardly revised 36,700 rise in August. The employment-to-population ratio remained steady at 64.0 per cent, with the participation rate edging up to 67.0% from the prior 66.9% but remained below its record high of 67.2%. Year-on-year, total employment grew by 190,500, or 1.3%.
