15 October 2025, 15:06 Spain Inflation Rate Accelerates More than Initially Thought.
The annual inflation rate in Spain rose to 3 percent in September 2025 from 2.7 percent in August, and above preliminary estimates of 2.9 percent. Cost accelerated for transport (2.2 percent vs 1.2 percent), housing & utilities (7.1 percent vs 6 percent), food & non-alcoholic beverages (2.4 percent vs 2.3 percent), miscellaneous goods & services (3.5 percent vs 3.4 percent), clothing & footwear (0.8 percent vs 0.7 percent), communication (0.9 percent vs 0.8 percent) and education (2.8 percent vs 2.6 percent). Meanwhile, inflation was steady for alcoholic beverages & tobacco (4.2 percent), furniture & household equipment (0.8 percent), health (2 percent) and restaurant & hotels (4.3 percent). On a monthly basis, the CPI fell 0.3%. Core inflation held at 2.4%, above earlier estimates of 2.3%. The EU-harmonised annual inflation rate climbed to 3% from 2.7%, marking its highest level since June 2024. Month-on-month, the EU-harmonised CPI edged up 0.1%.
