10 October 2025, 18:47 USA: Consumer Sentiment Little Changed in October.
The University of Michigan consumer sentiment for the US came in at 55 in October 2025, compared to 55.1 in September and forecasts of 54.2, preliminary estimates showed. Consumer sentiment was virtually unchanged from September, as improvements in current personal finances and year-ahead business conditions were offset by declines in expectations for future personal finances as well as current buying conditions for durables. The current economic conditions subindex increased to 61 from 60.4 while the expectations gauge edged down to 51.2 from 51.7. Overall, consumers perceive very few changes in the outlook for the economy from last month. Meanwhile, year-ahead inflation expectations edged down to 4.6% from 4.7% while long-run inflation expectations held steady at 3.7%.
