Switzerland’s consumer confidence index increased to -37 in September 2025 from a four-month low of -40 in August and above market expectations of -38. However, the reading continued to point to a deterioration from -34 recorded in the same month last year. The expected economic development sub-index dropped to -53 from -19 a year earlier. By contrast, households were relatively less negative on their past financial situation (-40 vs -53 in September 2024), their expected financial situation (-28 vs -33), and the suitability of timing for major purchases (-25 vs -29).
