Estonia’s trade deficit widened to EUR 263.7 million in August 2025 from EUR 200.9 in the corresponding month of the previous year, as exports fell while imports rose. Year-on-year, exports declined 2% to EUR 1,425.8 million, weighed down by lower shipments to non-EU countries (-16%), despite an increase in EU countries (3%). Among commodities, notable increases were seen in textile and textile articles (12%), transport equipment (11%), and agricultural products and food preparations (5%). Meanwhile, imports grew by 2% to EUR 1,689.5 million, driven by higher purchases from non-EU countries (11%), while outbound shipments were unchanged from EU countries (0%). Increased arrivals were recorded only for wood and articles of wood (95%) and miscellaneous manufactured articles (53%). Considering the first eight months of the year, the country posted a EUR 2512.4 million trade shortfall, expanding from a EUR 2167.7 million gap in the same period a year earlier.
