8 August 2025, 07:46  Netherlands: Dutch Household Spending Growth Eases.

Household consumption in the Netherlands rose by 0.7% year-on-year in June 2025, slowing from an upwardly revised 2.6% increase in the previous month. The deceleration was mainly driven by a decline in service consumption (-0.4% vs 4.0%), as spending in the hospitality sector decreased, while expenditures on recreation and transportation increased. Services account for more than half of total domestic household consumption. Meanwhile, spending on goods (2.2% vs 0.8%) accelerated, led by a notable increase in durable consumer goods (3.7% vs 0.7% - particularly shoes, clothing, and electrical appliances. Consumption of food, beverages, and tobacco (2.3% vs 1.3%) also picked up. However, spending on other goods (-1% vs 0%), including energy and motor fuels, declined.
