7 August 2025, 22:14 Italy: FTSE MIB Rises as Investors Digest Tariffs and Earnings.
The FTSE MIB jumped 0.9% to close at 41,393 on Thursday as investors weighed mixed earnings reports and the impact of higher US tariffs on a dozen of its trading partners, which are expected to weigh on global growth and reignite inflationary pressures. US President Donald Trump's new tariffs took effect on Thursday, including a 100% levy on imported semiconductors. However, companies manufacturing in the US or committed to doing so will be granted exemptions. On the corporate front, Interpump shares surged 8.2% after the group reported optimistic corporate results for the quarter, while Buzzi gained 5.2% and Prysmian rose 4.7%. Meanwhile, Leonardo fell 6.1% after Rheinmetall, its joint venture partner in tank production, reported second-quarter sales and profits below expectations.
