6 August 2025, 14:05  Euro Zone: Retail Sales Rise Slightly Less than Expected.

Retail sales in the Eurozone increased 0.3% month-over-month in June 2025, rebounding from a 0.3% fall in the previous month but slightly below market expectations of a 0.4% gain. A recovery was seen in sales for food, drinks and tobacco (0.2% vs -0.5%), non-food products (0.6% vs -0.1% in May) and auto fuel (0.4% vs -0.8%). Among the bloc's largest economies, retail sales increased in Germany (0.9% vs -0.6%), Italy (0.4% vs -0.3%), Spain (1.2% vs 0.4%), Netherlands (0.1% vs -0.1%), Belgium (0.5% vs -2.5%) and Ireland (0.5% vs 0.7%) but fell in France (-0.9% vs 0%). Year-on-year, retail sales in the Euro Area increased 3.1%, the most since September 2024, compared to a 1.9% gain in the previous month and forecasts of 2.6%.
