6 August 2025, 06:36 Ireland: Services PMI Falls to 1-1/2 Years Low.
The AIB Ireland Services PMI declined to 50.9 in July 2025, down from 51.5 in June, marking the lowest level since January 2024, as employment growth slowed and the volume of outstanding business remained largely unchanged. The pace of job creation was the weakest in the current six-month period of hiring growth and remained below the long-run survey average. New business increased only marginally—one of the slowest expansions in the current growth cycle that began in 2021. Output and new business expanded in just three of the four monitored sub-sectors, led by technology, media, and telecoms. Foreign demand remained subdued, although it showed a slight improvement from June’s contraction. On prices, input cost inflation eased to its weakest level since February 2021, while selling prices rose at an unchanged pace, still the lowest rate in over four years. Lastly, business sentiment improved to a four-month high, but remained muted by historical standards amid ongoing uncertainty.
