5 August 2025, 16:01 USA: Imports Fall to 15-Month Low.
Imports of goods and services into the US fell sharply in June 2025, declining by $12.8 billion, or 3.7%, to $337.5 billion—the lowest level since March 2024. The drop was driven primarily by a $12.6 billion decrease in goods imports, which fell to $265.0 billion. Consumer goods led the decline, plummeting by $8.4 billion, including a notable $9.6 billion drop in pharmaceutical preparations. Imports of industrial supplies and materials also declined by $2.7 billion, reflecting reduced shipments of crude oil and nuclear fuel. Automotive imports fell by $1.3 billion, largely due to fewer passenger car purchases. Meanwhile, imports of services edged down by $0.2 billion to $72.5 billion, mainly due to weaker spending on travel and transport services.
