4 August 2025, 17:59 USA: Factory Orders Fall in June as Transport Demand Slumps.
New orders for US manufactured goods fell 4.8% in June 2025, following a revised 8.3% surge in May and aligning closely with market expectations for a 4.9% decline. The drop was largely driven by a 22.4% plunge in transportation equipment orders, which partially reversed May’s 48.5% jump. Civilian aircraft orders dropped 51.8% after soaring 231.6% the previous month, while orders for ships and boats fell 20.0%, following a 39.9% increase in May. In contrast, modest gains were recorded across several other sectors: primary metals (0.6% vs. 0.7% in May), fabricated metal products (0.1% vs. 1.1%), machinery (0.3% vs. 0.4%), computers and electronic products (0.6% vs. 2.1%), and electrical equipment, appliances, and components (0.1% vs. 0.6%).
