4 August 2025, 11:36 Italy: Stocks Rise Over 1%
The FTSE MIB index rose more than 1% to trade above 40,400 in early trading on Monday, snapping a two-day losing streak to start the week on a strong note. Investor focus is now turning to a wave of corporate earnings reports, as well as domestic economic data including PMI figures and industrial production, which are expected to provide fresh insights into the health of the Italian economy. Gains were broad-based, led by financial stocks. Heavyweights UniCredit and Intesa Sanpaolo advanced 2.8% and 2.6%, respectively. Other notable performers in the sector included Mediobanca (+2.8%), Banco BPM (+2.4%), BPER Banca (+1.9%), and Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena (+2.2%).
