28 August 2025, 13:54  Ireland: Retail Sales Accelerate in July.

Retail sales in Ireland rose 0.8% month-over-month in July 2025, accelerating from 0.6% in June. The upturn was driven by faster growth in motor trades (9.2% vs 0.1%) and pharmaceuticals, medical & cosmetic articles (2.9% vs 0.6%), alongside rebounds in food, beverages & tobacco (0.9% vs -2.1%), fuel (1.5% vs -1.6%), clothing, footwear & textiles (1.6% vs -2.0%), hardware, paints & glass (3.0% vs -1.7%), and bars (0.2% vs -4.1%). Conversely, sales declined in furniture & lighting (-1.0% vs 0.9%), books, newspapers & stationery (-3.2% vs 0.7%), electrical goods (-1.4% vs 4.2%), and other retail categories (-0.1% vs 3.1%), while non-specialized stores fell further (-0.6% vs -0.3%). On an annual basis, retail activity climbed 4.2% in July, marking the fastest pace since January 2024, up from a 3.0% gain in June.
