The unemployment rate in Hungary stood at 4.3% in May-July 2025, unchanged from the same period last year. The number of unemployed individuals increased by 2.5 thousand from a year earlier to 212.3 thousand. Of this total, 112.6 thousand were men and 99.7 thousand were women. The jobless rate for men was 4.3%, 0.1 percentage points higher than the previous year, while for women it remained broadly the same at 4.3%. The average time spent looking for a job was 11.5 months. Among the unemployed, 42.5% had been seeking work for less than 3 months, while 29.2% had been looking for at least a year. Meanwhile, the number of employed persons declined by 29.9 thousand to 4.681 million. Employment among men fell by 23.8 thousand to 2.477 million, while employment among women decreased by 6.2 thousand to 2.203 million.
