26 August 2025, 22:40 Italy: FTSE MIB Falls as Investors Take Profits.
The FTSE MIB dropped 1.3% to close at 42,655 on Tuesday, as Italy began talks with domestic banks over contributions to bolster state finances, adding pressure on the sector. The sector was also pressured by the slight widening in bond spreads between Italy and lower-debt members of the Eurozone as the upcoming no-confidence vote in France over its budget jeoperdized the bloc's fiscal conditions. UniCredit sank 3.6% as markets digested the impact of state lending against its recent increase in its stake on German Commerzbank. Also, Banca Popoplare di Sondrio, Mediobanca, Banca Monte Paschi Siena 2.3%, and Intesa Sanpaolo fell between 3% and 1%.
