25 August 2025, 16:12  Brazil: Consumer Confidence Falls on Weaker Outlook.

Brazil’s seasonally adjusted FGV-IBRE Consumer Confidence Index fell 0.5 points in August to 86.2, reversing July’s gain, driven entirely by weaker expectations. The Expectations Index dropped 1.3 points to 88.1, with the local economic outlook down 2.8 points to 97.7 for its third consecutive decline, and household financial expectations falling 2.6 points to 79.8, the lowest since September 2021. In contrast, planned durable goods purchases rose 1.3 points to 88.2, the highest since December 2024. The Current Situation Index gained 1.1 points to 84.5, its second consecutive increase, as household finances improved 2.6 points to 75.4, despite a slight 0.3-point drop in the local economic situation to 94.0. Economist Anna Carolina Gouveia noted that consumer confidence has been range-bound over the past three months, showing no clear trend but remaining at weak levels.
