22 August 2025, 09:11 Malaysia: Food Prices Rise the Least in 10 Months.
Food prices in Malaysia rose 1.9% year-on-year in July 2025, easing from a 2.1% increase in the previous month and marking the slowest pace since September 2024. Price growth moderated for oils and fats (1.5% vs 1.7% in June), sugar, confectionery, and desserts (0.8% vs 1.0%), and food away from home (4.3% vs 4.7%). At the same time, costs fell further for food at home (-0.3% vs -0.4%), cereals and cereal products (-0.6% vs -0.3%), meat (-0.9% vs -1.1%), milk, dairy products, and eggs (-1.1% vs -1.8%), and vegetables (-6.6% vs -7.2%). Prices of fruits and nuts also declined by 0.3%, following a 0.1% drop in June. In contrast, fish and seafood inflation accelerated (1.8% vs 1.6%).
