22 August 2025, 00:40  Brazil: Ibovespa Edges Lower on Thursday.

The Ibovespa fell 0.1% to close at 134,510 on Thursday as investors weighed the Brazil US trade dispute and domestic political developments, while abroad attention remained fixed on the Federal Reserve’s Jackson Hole symposium. On the data front, July tax collections totaled R$254.2 billion, up 4.6% year on year and boosted by higher financial transactions tax receipts. Traders stayed cautious ahead of Fed Chair Jerome Powell’s Friday speech on the likelihood of US rate cuts. On the corporate front Petrobras edged lower while Vale advanced 0.9%, major banks retreated, Eletrobras gained 0.6% and Sabesp climbed 0.9%.
