The FTSE MIB rose 0.9% to close at 43,009 on Tuesday, the highest in 18 years, amid fresh corporate developments in the heavyweight financial sector. Banks advanced, with Mediobanca (+1.5%) gaining after ECB approval for its Banca Generali takeover (+0.1%), while MPS’s (+1.3%) subscription for its Mediobanca offer continued to rise despite the discounted price. Geopolitically, Trump emphasized security guarantees and a potential trilateral meeting with Putin after meeting Zelensky and European leaders, raising optimism over potential progress toward peace. Leonardo fell 9.5% on the development.
